Digestion-Supporting Strawberry Probiotic Smoothie

Sometimes middle school students say hilarious things. Like the one time an especially brilliant student asked me if I knew anything about the microbiome....

More an more research is being done on the effects and importance of the good (and bad!) bacteria and other microbes along our digestive tract. The students especially loved this video about the microbiome and its effects in the body.

This tasty little smoothie filled with digestion-nourishing beneficial bacteria is made with a healthy servings of strawberries. Because strawberries make everything taste better. Just make sure to buy them organic, this is one fruit that seems to be worth the money for organic!

Digestion-Supporting Strawberry Probiotic Smoothie

Prep time: 5 minutes

Makes: 10 servings


  • 2c frozen strawberries (cleaned and halved)

  • 1 1/2c frozen non-dairy plain yogurt or coconut milk kefir

  • 1c non-dairy milk

  • 2c Power Greens

  • 1/4c vegan protein powder (Vanilla flavored)

  • 1c ice cubes


1.) Blend all ingredients until smooth. Enjoy!.
